Where we work

Four markets, four sets of conventions

Arno Markus placed senior leaders across the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe for more than twenty years before founding iCareerSolutions. The practice works the markets it knows.

United States

The largest and most recruiter-driven senior market. Retained search dominates above the VP line; LinkedIn Recruiter is the sourcing tool of record. Materials are a résumé, not a CV, and the narrative is achievement-led. For executives arriving from the UK or Europe the adjustment is usually tone and format rather than substance.

Canada

Closely aligned with US conventions and often searched by the same firms, with a smaller pool of decision-makers in each sector. Relationships carry further, which favours the direct approach. Bilingual positioning matters in Québec and in federal-adjacent roles.

United Kingdom

A CV market, typically two pages, with headhunters and retained firms building shortlists from known networks. Board and NED routes are more formalised than in North America. Executives arriving from the US often need their materials made quieter, not louder.

Europe

Conventions vary by country more than the other three markets between themselves. Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the Nordics each have their own expectations for CVs, references and the interview process, and language is often a practical filter at senior level. We scope each engagement to the specific country and say plainly when a market isn't a realistic target.

Not on the list?

We take engagements outside these four markets only when we have the network to run them properly. Ask; the answer is sometimes yes and sometimes a referral.
